Best for Music Production

Novation Launchpad Review

Ableton Novation Launchpad Review

If you’re an Ableton music producer and haven’t made the leap into acquiring a midi control like the Novation Launchpad,  you may be missing out on an expansive tool to project your creativity.

You want versatility and the ability to loop, play out samples, and have the capability to mold a potential new beat or song at the ease of your fingertips.

The Launchpad allows you to have a more “organic” approach when performing live or just playing around with your selected cuts.

USB Connectivity

Everything these days is connected by USB.  Whether it’s your phone, keyboard, mouse or MIDI pad, you’ll have the ability to easily plug and play as long as you have a computer.

Pads, Pads, and more Pads!

With 64 RGB pads, you have the ability to color coordinate selected areas of the Launchpad so that you can segment out your drums, melodies, loops, etc.

The pressure-sensitive pads are very responsive and unlike some of the lower end models out there, it makes sure you don’t miss the timing of your loop, sample, or instrument.

Functionality

In addition to your wide array of RGB pads, you have session and user functions, mixer capability, volume, pan, record buttons and more!

Some users may use this midi controller as a keyboard.  They may even program chord progressions with the touch of one pad.  This flexibility allows you to set up a master tool that will truly help you in your creative expression.

Easy to Travel With MIDI Controller

Even though the quality of the Novation Launchpad is good, it is exceptionally light and can be carried around to a friend’s, on a road trip, or on a vacation where you plan on producing music.

It is actually quite compact and can be carried around in a day bag or backpack.

Launch Pad vs. Launchpad Pro

Keep in mind that there are two variations. You have the base model and the higher end counterpart Pro.

One of the main differences between the two is that the Launchpad Pro gives you even more functionality and options when it comes to mixing control, managing effects and plugins.

Requirements

The good news is that this can run on both Macs and PCs.  So Windows or MacOS is in.  Keep in mind that it comes with Ableton Live Lite.  So if you haven’t purchased Ableton Live, don’t fret.
